Yesterday (Saturday) I was awake at 8am and working away. I spent the entire day cutting, drilling, screwing, and bolting. I got the face of the canvas done.
Unfortunately in the picture below I am blocking the 1 1/2 inch shaft that comes out of the dead center of this thing. It’s attached to that steel plate. Actually you can see it on the right side of the picture above.

After that I spent the better part of an hour struggling to get the base put together, and came to the conclusion that I wasn’t mentally with it. So I stopped, it was nine o’clock. Nine is just too early for me to go to sleep, granted I was incredibly tired but I knew if I slept I would wake up at midnight. So I watched a movie and puttered out.
Today (Sunday) I woke up at 8 and promptly started working on the base. It was done by 2pm, and I cleaned up and took a nap. In the picture below you can see the steel shaft that will be mounted onto the support structure in the back. There are two awesome sets of ball bearings attached to the top of the wooden support structure in the background. The shaft will go into those.

Then a couple of my co workers showed up and helped move the face of the canvas onto the base. The face probably weighs 350lbs, pretty darn heavy. Well we got it all connected and it spins perfectly. At the moment you can see it on the webcam, but I will post a video for this whole process either tonight or tomorrow. I think to date I have spent about 600 bucks on this thing.
