Alright.  I’m heading out to San Francisco tonight.  I’ll be back next week with a bunch of updates and little announcements of the new stuff I’m working on.  Hope all is well.

A trip!

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Ahhhh I’m going to get a little vacation.  Well not really, just a very small weekend trip to San Francisco.  I’m rather excited to get away, I didn’t get too far away from home on my break, how far did I make it?  oh yeah, the garage.  haha.

I discovered a fun and very different way to take photos this last week and I hope to do a little bit of it over the coming months and I will put the photographs up on the site sometime.  Ever expanding.

I’m trying to think what has happened recently.  Well I bought a new battery pack for the new camera I got.  The thing will never run out of juice now.  That will potentially be a relief in certain situations.

I get to make my next “goodbye art” project in San Francisco.  That will be very different to be away from my comfort zone, but that will be awesome at the same time.  I think it will end up more playful and colorful.  yes colorful.  I know, I know, I don’t work with color much but I plan to break my personal wall and do a little bit of it in the next piece.

I just have a little bit more work to finish up and then I can get back to my large project.  The one in my studio (If I can get that camera working again) just needs the hours put in to finish it.  And then I get to start my next one, which will be I think one of my personal best.  It is way beyond the others in approach and medium.  I’m rather excited about it although it will take me months to get it done because it will be so intricate.

Hope everyone is doing well.  thanks for reading.

It has been a good month so far. It is hard to believe it’s almost up. I’m going to be in SanFran next weekend to run around and relax a little bit and to start taking some photos for a silly coffee table book I thought of.
In a blog at the beginning of the month I mentioned I would be spending this month trying to earn some money and then in August would come back to focusing on my large projects. It has been decent so far. I did the little advert thing and am doing some portrait work at the hospital which should finish up within two weeks. It’s been nice, but I’m ready to get back to the large piece on my web cam and focus on the art that is more meaningful to me.

New Project

Monday, July 16th, 2007

So I started the new project this weekend.  The idea is to make a new piece each weekend, with a different theme each month, without concern for the extreme detail and absolute perfection.  I’m trying to develop my spontaneity and creativity.  So if you want to check out that process and piece it’s the new link on my site titled “Goodbye Art”

It has a separate blog so comments can be directed specifically there.  I hope you enjoy it and find the variety of work that will come out of it interesting.

Yahoo!

I’m in the process of firing up this other piece and you will see it tomorrow morning or late tonight.  buuuuuuut, Kevin Sites from Yahoo told me that the segment on myself is up on “People of the web” Check it out http://potw.news.yahoo.com/

I was thoroughly entertained at my first spoken words in the piece.  hahaha.  fantastic!

Alright, I’m off to create a piece for today and start my new large project.  It will become it’s own blog as it will be an on going idea.

about to begin

Friday, July 13th, 2007

well I am starting a new project tomorrow and I haven’t prepped for the piece at all.  That is actually part of the project and I must say I enjoy it.  Alright, I have the day off from work and it is a beautiful day.  See ya tomorrow.

Continuing

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

So I bought a Canon Rebel XTi digital SLR yesterday!  I love it, it’s so nice to finally have a decent camera.  I have spent far too long just using my point and shoot.  So hopefully this will aid my next project appropriately.

Tonight I may not sleep.  I am making a small internet advert for a French perfume company and it’s due tomorrow night.  Now I thought I had tomorrow off from work but I had looked at the wrong month, ha.  So now I gotta pull an all nighter.  The piece is in the same medium as “Influence” and it should be pretty fun.  Just one night of painting instead of a couple days.  ugh, I won’t do that again.  But this project added to some hospital commission work will pay all of my debt except my car and leave me with some spare.  woo!  I’m way excited for that.

I sent Kevin Sites (with Yahoo) some more video, it looks like they will do a few minute video only on my “A moment” piece, for next week.  I’m pretty excited for that.

Saturday morning I will make a quick picture that will be done with in about a four hour period.  It will be part of the new project I am taking on and I will detail the whole idea at that point.  The piece will be more about spontaneity than my other work.  But more when I get to it.

Hope all is well, splendid here.

8 days

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

So I am stinking excited.  I spoke with Kevin Sites a couple days ago and he said my interview will be up on Yahoo on Monday the 16th.  I am really looking forward to this and makes it so I will accelerate my plans for a new project by a couple weeks.  I will detail the new project this coming weekend or next week.  It will be in addition to the other stuff and hopefully help me build my creativity and spontaneity.

So, KFC, I did it.  I made the piece last weekend and they will do something with it on Tuesday.  Still not sure what their exact plans are but it definitely falls into the internet commercial category.  It’s a little bit longer, something you would never see on TV, more unique, and kinda out there.  I think more large companies will begin to do random little things like this more and more as they start to see print and tv advertising dollars not as well spent.  eh, but who knows.  It was kinda strange to leave the ideas up to other people and have them tell me exactly what they want.  But it was pretty cool to make something for such a large company, even though it was minuscule in their advert budget.  It showed me that if I could get a couple of these jobs from time to time I would be able to do projects that I only previously fantasized about.  hahaha, some of my ideas are well beyond my budget, but I still wanna do them.

oh hey a note to everyone here about the circle project.  Yes the faint little lines in the poster are supposed to be there, this is not a printing error as a couple people suggested.  If you follow the lines into the text you will see that it becomes a white line in between some of the letters. This is where the large sheets of paper I used butted up against each other.  I thought it would be damaging to the piece to edit them out, because then the question comes of do I edit out the little white line in between some letters, if I do that then I am changing the piece.  So for the quality and keeping the piece unedited I decided it was better to leave them in.

If you noticed I have made absolutely no progress on the picture on the web cam.  Pretty much because of all the follow up with the last project and trying to get myself in a better place financially and mentally.

I was thinking of putting the Bruce Lee piece on ebay next week, any thoughts?  It is a piece that I will never display anywhere because it is just so different than my other work.  So it is just collecting dust on a shelf.

Alright, that’s enough for the day.  I will probably post a fair amount this week as I will get back into the swing of things.

Hope everyone is well.
