Almost March already?

Where does time go? The Grammy’s was a blast. It was one heck of a concert! Lots of celebrities were there but it’s hard to recognize them in person. We had the pleasure of meeting Fran Drescher and her date Gavin Lurssen who won best album of the year. They are super nice and seemingly into my work. We had awesome seats at the Grammy’s. I sat by John Lithgow from Third Rock from the Sun. A funny fellow, kept raising the roof throughout the performance. We also switched seats with another actor who was completely recognizable but just couldn’t pinpoint his name.

After coming back from the Grammy’s, it was hard to get back into the groove of Art Happening. There were so many other things on my plate, and I finally got back to Art Happening but the month is almost over. Oh well! Then beginning of March, I will be going to Atlanta to shoot another commercial. As much as I would love to just do Art Happening all day long, I need to do these other things that pay the bills as well. It will be a constant struggle of trying to juggle my schedule between Art Happening and everything else.

Picking a news article to turn into art can always pose a challenge. I wanted to pick something that was small news with big meaning. Khmer Rouge came at the right time. The outcome of this piece is a little different, but I like how it turned out. Almost everything I make is experimental for me in some ways so I don’t always know how they will turn out. And speaking of experiments, back to back was my project on the Drunken Japanese Finance Minister. More on the art happening blogs on these projects. I will be off to Atlanta for a commercial shoot next week. I’m very excited for the next 2 projects…keep your eyes peeled for them! They’ll be more grandeous. I’d like to crank out more projects in March, at least that’s always the hope!

I’m happy there are paying gigs! I know you’re doing the commercial stuff with great integrity, bringing your unique talents and view to what the client wants. I’m also glad that people who matter (folks with money and appreciate art) are ‘validating’ and paying for your work. Gotta be able to get the hair gel for the Tin-tin hair. ;-D I’m a little sad and selfish that there won’t be so many Art Happenings.

Thanks Jim. Yea, gotta do some that pay the bills but I hope it mostly won’t interfere with art happening projects. As I get more rhythm in these projects, I should be able to crank out more regularly. I really enjoy this series. I will sleep less if I have to!

Just wanted to drop back and comment on the Drunk Minister video, we can’t hear your commentary in the beginning. Is that intentional?

  4. Administrator says:

Jim, the commentary only comes out of the left speaker. For some reason, when I use the microphone, my voice only comes out of one speaker.
