I wish I had more time to spend with this project because I would approach it differently and with more time. The final product I am satisfied with but the image isn’t very clear, ah well, time to move on right?

It was difficult to work with the eggs because of the point of view. Drawing on a round surface and trying to make it look flat is not real straight forward.

I think the most irritating thing was once I got the eggs in place I would always bump them and mess everything up which would make me go back and readjust everything. grrrr

A 8×12 photo is available here. If you can support Goodbye Art it is appreciated.

drop it like it’s hot

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

I had been sitting with this idea for quite a while. Then I found the music. wow. I was surfin around on myspace and happened upon this track by Gunter, where he did some gospel/bluegrass/folk throwback of Snoop Dogg’s “drop it like it’s hot” The mix was just perfect and I knew instantly it would mix with my work as I desired. I had the Snoop mix with a great American painting “American Gothic” and I thought the drawing it’s self was a nice rags to riches Compton interpretation of the original but I didn’t want to just put a drawing up here, it needed some music. Nothing fit until I found this. Now the drawing and the music play off of each other wonderfully.

Now I will admit that it is not as good as could be done. I find myself quite comfortable with being in this place. I know I’m not going to have the picture, it is temporary in my life, so I treat it as so and move on. I could have spent hours and hours on this but in the end I decided I didn’t care that much to have it perfect, I would rather be pleased with the idea than the extreme detail.

I set it up a couple days ago and then did the drawing this morning. I blended out certain parts to stick with the goal of focusing on the idea and not the technical aspect. That’s what this project is for. fun.
