Tabbies: CMYK in layers

I was browsing around online and ran into Richard Phillips' work. It is quite stunning stuff. Of course I got curious how he painted them. Then one thing let to another and this got created.
This was created by splitting the skin tones into their cmyk elements. Then I just printed them on transparencies, layered them together, made the sliding mechanism and here we are.
